Pu'uhonua o Honaunau - Place of Refuge Mural

These murals depict the reason for this place of refuge. In the past, if one breaks the law, one will be killed. If you can paddle fast enough in your little kayak to this place of refuge, then you will be spared. If you get caught, then you will be killed by the pursuing warriors.
