MONTERREY, MEXICO

Monterrey is not known for its tourism. I went to downtown Monterrey and was only able to find three postcards (ugly ones too) of the entire greater Monterrey area. I had a lot of difficulties explaining to shop assistants that I was looking for postcards. A lot of them didn't know what I was looking for. The three postcards were the result of visiting all five dowtown giftshops.

Being not tourist friendly is not a bad thing. I got to quickly learn about the true local culture. In fact, I found Monterrenians very friendly. At a flea market, I had a pleasant conversation with an old bearded owner about poetry. It turned out that he was a poet who could speak fluent English!
