ICELAND
Iceland is one of the few places left on earth that human habitation does not interfere with nature much. In Iceland, I imagined my ancesters breathing similar air under a similar sky with moutains, horses and ocean.
Icelandic horses have a long history of over one thousand years. Only the best, pure nordic horsies were brought with the original viking settlers. Their breed is extinct now on the European mainland.
Iceland's unique volcanism and its location of being on the mid-Atlantic ridge provide a wealth of geothermal energy. Aside from using the energy to heat houses, the government also uses the return water from houses to melt ice on pavement and streets.
Icelandic Air does very nice marketing to attract visitors to this country. As a result, many people visit Iceland now. It is famous for its hopping night life. The movie "101 Reykjavik" offers a very good portrayal of the Icelandic life.
