NAPOLI

I didn't visit Naples, just passed by really quickly a few times. I got too scared by all the scam stories. Although current day Naples is a lot more tourist-friendly, the train station and the bus station still looked shady. I visited the surrounding regions of Naples - the island of Ischia, Sorrento, Pompeii and the famous Almafi coast.

A lot can be said about this region. Ischia has thermal pools in many hotels. It is also close to Capri but not as crowded. Sorrento has a stunning view when approaching from sea- it appears to be built on sea cliffs. Ancient ruin Pompeii is well planned with many details such as sliding doors for shops and central heating system for their bath houses. Almafi coast has always been a vacation spot for the riches. The town of Positano was in the film "under the Tuscan sun" (a little deceiving since Tuscany is way north on the map). From the film, one can have a good look at the famous stacking houses by the sea.
