Sicilinas eat an ice cream like food called granita for breakfast during summer. It is not as creamy as ice cream. Its consistency is between a slushy and an ice cream. They usually top it with whipped cream. I very quickly adapted to this new breakfast menu. Yummy!

Sicily is the hub of Mafia. Because of that, it is relatively safer than the mainland. At the moment, due to large influx of immigrants, Italian mainland is pestered with gang groups from various countries. Mafia does not allow the gangs to encroach. As a result, groups such as the Chinese triads cannot thrive in Sicily.

Sicilian dialect is much closer in choice of words and pronunciation to Spanish than standard Italian. I suppose both Sicily and Spain had a strong Arabic influence in the past.
